Association of Member Nominated Trustees

Association of Member Nominated Trustees

Case study

The AMNT is a not-for-profit organisation supporting member-nominated trustees of UK-based pension schemes in the private and public sector.  It supports members to access relevant training and events and responds to consultations, promoting the value of member-nominated trustees within pension governance structures, the need for adequate training and support and the active responsible investment of pension schemes over the longer term. Where appropriate the AMNT campaigns on issues of concern to its members.

JRCT makes a grant to AMNT through its Power and Accountability programme to undertake the development of the Red Line Voting initiative. This encourages and facilitates asset owners to vote their shares in support of good governance, fair remuneration, environmental protection and human rights. The work fits with the Power and Accountability funding priority aimed at developing and promoting mechanisms which increase the accountability and responsiveness of companies to shareholders.  More generally it also reflects the Trust’s long and ongoing interest in responsible investment as an asset owner.
