Kieran McEvoy is the Senator George J. Mitchell Chair in Peace, Security and Justice at the Mitchell Institute and a Professor of Law at Queens University Belfast. He has worked extensively on addressing the legacy of conflict and violence in Northern Ireland and over a dozen other countries. He is currently focused in particular on securing information recovery and acknowledgement from armed groups. Beyond academia, he is a long-standing peace and human rights activist. He was a founding member of Community Restorative Justice Ireland and has been involved with Northern Ireland’s primary human rights NGO (the Committee on the Administration of Justice) for over thirty years, having served almost a decade as chair.
